The assessment of midline shift is on of the easiest, fastest use-cases for bedside transcranial ultrasound, with excellent correlation to CT measurement (ICC 0.93 with mean bias of 2-3mm, with data from ED physician point-of-care transcranial ultrasound). For perspective, the margin of error is similar to the thickness of your thumbnail, and the agreement with CT measurement is significantly better than agreement between physician visual estimation of cardiac ejection fraction compared to visual estimation by an experienced sonographer.
